One Film, A Book and Lots of Star Wars Covers!
30 years old, this film is.
Sempena ulangtahun filem Star Wars yang ke 30, majalah filem kegemaran aku Empire, telah mengeluarkan 30 cover Star Wars yang berbeza! Holy Sith! 28 drpnya ada dalam gambar ni, dan dua lagi ialah cover versi emas dengan gambar Jar Jar Binks (wth, man?) dan cover ekslusif dengan Han, Luke, Leia dan Chewie.
Ok, time for some Q&A.
How have the Star Wars films inspired you?
By opening a whole new world of great films and sci-fi in general. And so began my infatuation with Han Solo (Harrison Ford~ walaupun dia sebaya ngan ayah aku – tapi sejak dia kapel ngan Calista Flockhart aku tak minat sangat dah) and all things Star Wars related. I love looking for SW references in films, esp. those directed by Kevin Smith, who is a big fan of the film. And as much as I hate to admit it, I fall in love with my last bf just because he’s a SW fan, and because I loved his Storm Trooper t-shirt. The relationship was platonic, but it lasted for 2 years. Sekarang dia dah ada 3 anak dan cakap aku tak pandai main. Celaka.
Do you own many Star Wars products?
Not really. I’ve got a couple of the books and the movies on DVD, plus some toys I got from Pizza Hut during the re-release of Star Wars way back in what? 1998 ? Amongst them is a carbon-freeze Han puzzle, A Death Star puzzle, R2D2 and C3PO magnetic puzzle and a Millenium Falcon game yang aku tak tau kat mana dah. A set of 20 trading cards from KFC, during the release of The Phantom Menace. And my Star Wars Panini sticker book (not completed, though). Also, my Special Edition of Star Wars: A Celebration (25th Anniversary) and The Unofficial Star Wars DVD Viewing Companion, both came free with Empire Magazine.
One thing you hated about the SW saga?
I don’t know about you guys, tapi aku lebih sukakan filem2 sci-fi yang takde/ kalau ada pun sikit, watak2 bukan manusia. I mean, I don’t have anything against alien life forms macam dalam BSG, Star Trek, Star Gate dan uhm, ALF?, tapi aku lebih suka kalau sesuatu filem/ siri tu, berkisar tentang manusia atau kalau alien pun, yang lebih kurang macam manusia (eg. Deanna Troy dalam ST:TNG, Mr Spock dalam ST atau golongan Reavers dalam Firefly). Jar Jar Binks, kick your ass, I will.

Hah, siapa kata orang perempuan cuma suka nonton chick flicks aje? Well, not me !*. And at least not these 4 friends who had known each other since college, and all shared the passion for good films. Aku suka buku ni sebab gaya penulisannya lebih kurang macam yang aku selalu buat di blog. Disusun mengikut genre, setiap penulis ada pendapat dan genre kegemaran tersendiri. Tak lupa juga soalan2 ala meme seperti An Absurd Plotline, The movie I want to live in, The Creepiest Villain is… dan Scary Hair Situations (Lise: Don Cheadle in Boogie Nights; Sibyl: Sam L Jackson’s braided goatee in Jackie Brown; Andrea: The stylist on The Lost Boys has got some explaining to do dan Clare: Christopher Walken’s hair in The Prophecy.) LOL!
Setiap chapter juga diakhiri dengan recomendation filem2 yang patut di tonton. Yang tak bestnya ialah, buku ni ditulis pada tahun 1999, di mana mereka ni semua adalah pengasas website Girls On Film (dan aku kira, masa ni, zaman internet baru nak naik). Aku cuba klik ke websitenya, www.girlson.com, tapi ntah ngape yang kuar benda lain pulak :( Dan obviously la, filem2 pilihan diorang semuanya pra-2000. I just hoped that these ladies will come up with a new book or a new website!

Chick flicks kekadang boleh jadi my guilty pleasure atau filem2 yang aku akan tonton kalau dah takde filem2 lain nak tengok. Give me Reese + Gwyneth + Mark Ruffalo anytime! And a box of Kleenex too, please. :P
James McAvoy + Timur Bekmambetov = Oxygen! I need oxygen!!!!
Slated to be released somewhere in April 2008, filem adaptasi komik Wanted hasil karya Mark Millar ni sedang dalam proses penggambaran. Diarahkan oleh godfather filem trilogy Night Watch/ Day Watch/ Dusk Watch, Timur Bekmambetov, filem ni akan menampilkan James McAvoy sebagai Wesley Gibson, si pengurus akaun yang agak ke-loser-an, sebelum mendapat tahu yang bapanya merupakan seorang penjahat tahap dewa yang baru saja mati dibunuh, tanpa mengetahui yang beliau mewarisi skillz bapanya iaitu kepakaran dalam menggunakan apa saja jenis senjata and also the ability to shoot straight (well, one thing we know, THAT is one crucial skill for a guy, hehe).
Hmm.. walaupun watak Wesley ni dimodelkan sempena Eminem, tapi aku rasa macam tak sesuai jek kalau Em yang memegang watak ni. Maybe because he’s a bit too old? Or tak cukup fit untuk babak2 aksi dalam flem ni yang khabarnya akan ada babak kejar mengejar ala parkour? I think I’ll just wait and see.

Assalamualaikum/ Good day everybody!
Phew, lama betul aku tak update
Thirteen Things That Fueled My Passion/ Killed My Mojo During These Few Days.
1. Heroes 1x23 ~ How To Stop An Exploding Man
Jagshemash! Sylar sebenarnya Jew spy in disguise ! * (funny if you’ve watched Borat)
The final episode full of surprises, wtfs? and of course, Peter Petrelli freaking out. Mati2 aku ingatkan episode terakhir ni dua jam, aku dok try cari kat torrent sebab tak sure yang whether aku dah habis nonton atau belum. Nak kata best, there’s still some loopholes and questions (as always) tapi memang betul2 engaging la. {{{{{(>o<)}}}}}

2. Busy, busy, busy
My MIL tak sihat (her BP shoots up to 200/140, so she needed some rest and a lot of check-ups at the hospital), so dah dua hari Ikmal tak sekolah sebab ikut aku ke ofis. Tebalkan muka je, sebab aku takde alternative lain. Kat ofis, my immediate superior pulak emergency leave sebab anak dia sakit, leaving me with the board papers and quarterly report to kautim before the end of this week. Mati la mak!
3. Menteri tegur pasal mentaliti sampah
Aku dah lama perasan pasal ni. Tak kira kat ATM machines, kat LRT stations, kat memana la. Susah sangat ke nak make sure yang sampah2 tu betul2 masuk ke dalam tong yang telah disediakan? Gila! Dah la bagi peruntukan berjuta2 just to make sure yang rakyat menjaga kebersihan, tapi aku rasa kurang berjaya la kalau sikap cintakan kebersihan ni tak dipupuk dari rumah lagi. Parents, you are the ones yang menjadi contoh kepada anak2. Uhm, nanti la, bila aku ada masa dan kelapangan, Insya Allah, kita sesama listkan apa yang kita boleh buat untuk meningkatkan lagi taraf kebersihan negara, okay!
4. Spielberg and PJ bergabung untuk Tintin!
Haha! The memories came flooding by bila aku baca surat khabar Star hari Ahad tu. Teringat masa kat sekolah dulu, di mana aku selalu duduk bersila kat depan rak yang menempatkan buku2 Tintin hasil karya Herge, (seorang penulis/ pelukis dari Belgium), dan aku pun dah lupa entah berapa kali aku dah pinjam buku2 tersebut. Bestnya bila dah masuk ke dalam dunia Tintin, yang sentiasa dengan anjingnya, Snowy. Dengan watak2 lain seperti Capt Haddock, si kembar Thompson dan Thompson, tak lupa juga si Profesor Calculus yang amat sensitif apabila dipanggil ‘kambing’. Sigh… aku harap filem ni tak jadi freaky macam The Polar Express.
5. Blades of Glory
Gandingan Anchorman dan budak nerd dari Idaho tu. What more could you ask for? Hah! Aku benci GSC Berjaya Times Square sebab tak tayang filem ni D: . Aku dah beli bootleg version, tapi kualitinya Ya Rabbi, macam sampah! Sigh… lamanya nak tunggu kuar versi yang okay….
6. My bun update ~ 7 ½ weeks (from askbaby.com)
Your baby's body is straightening from it's earlier comma shape, looking rather like a tadpole and is now covered in a thin layer of translucent calls. Tiny beginnings of eyes, kidneys and lungs are forming. The eyelids are beginning to form and the tip of the nose is distinct. Your baby will have grown this week and is about the size of a 5p piece. The first embryonic movements can be detected by ultrasound.

You may feeling quite queasy by now. Try eating something bland or starchy like a plain biscuit or cracker. Ginger may also help, try ginger tea or ginger biscuits. You may also be feeling completely exhausted because of all the hormonal changes in your body. You may also feel faint at times and you may completely go off tea and coffee. As your basal metabolic rate (BMR) increases, you may hunger for more calories and protein. Or you may find nausea is putting you eating off certain foods altogether. You will still not be showing at all yet, your clothes might be a bit tight by the evening, but you'll be back to normal by the morning.
7. I’m turning into a moon!
Gaah! Call it pembawakan budak, call it some mishaps/ the aftermath that happened after my first ever resdung treatment. Tensionnya! Nak guna Oxy, doctor tak galakkan sebab ada peroxide, ugh, aku rasa macam Alfred E Newman sekarang :(.
8. Jagshemash!
The best present for that man in your life.

9. My PC hates me
Sekarang ni aku takleh tengok PC lama sangat, sebab cepat pening. Dan kalau dulu, steady je aku tidur pukul 3 atau 4 tapi sekarang, pukul 11 lebih aku dah tak larat.

Aku dah lama beli buku ni, tapi baru minggu lepas baca. Peh!, betul2 engrossing! Part Wrong Turn, part Battle Royale dengan sedikit elemen profesor gila ala2 Mr Freeze.
11. More than meets the eye?
Aku suka Transformers. Salah satu siri kartun yang aku suka masa kecik2 dulu, sebaris dengan M.A.S.K, Captain Planet dan Jem and the Holograms. So, bila keluar berita yang filem Transformers akan keluar, aku rasa agak mixed feelings la, especially bila tengok prototaip2 robot2 tu. Ada yang cheesy, ada yang OTT, but then I’m not saying anything until I see the film. Ah well, at least ada Shia la Beouf.
12. Gaji naik?
Tahniah la kepada semua yang bakal menerima kenaikan gaji. Bagi sesetengah daripada kita, yang naik cumalah blood pressure.

Time for Some Brain-Flavoured Ice-Cream !!!

Oleh kerana Edd Vedder dah pun membuat ulasan serta screencaps terlebih dahulu daripada aku, rasanya tak payah la kalau aku buat lagi, except for these gorgeous pics of the evil one.
Just some questions/ two sen imho’s from me…
1. Kalau DL boleh bunuh Linderman dengan breakthrough fist-nya, kenapa Jessica tak mati masa DL tak sengaja tertumbuk perut dia masa berlawan dulu? (I mean, his fist went thru her tummy right?)
2. Macam mana Peter tetiba boleh jadi dorky camtu? “Shoot me Claire, wait, no, shoot me!” Gosh, the expression on his face….
3. Kenapa aku nampak Claire macam concierge aje masa pakai suit hitam berlining putih tu?
4. Macam mana dengan membunuh tracking system tu (Molly Walker), boleh menyelamatkan New York daripada di bom? Takkan HRG tak tau the whole story behind this?
5. Adakah Encik Nakamura tahu yang Hiro merupakan orang yang akan membunuh Sylar/ stop the explosion?
6. Apa sebenarnya tujuan Sylar mengambil power Ted Sprague selain drp untuk melengkapkan power2 yang dia ada?
7. Where’sWaldo Ando ?

UITM Shah Alam – Puan Noor Liza Mohd Rosli, Mr Viju Chacko and Dr GP Mishra.
Argh! I can’t remember the rest, but these few are the ones that made my uni days a memorable one. PS: to my friends who read my blog- please, pretty please, refresh my memories.

Fave - English and Maths / Hated – History or any subjects that requires you to go in front of the class and SPEAK.
6. Do you have bad memories when it comes to teachers ?
Yes. This one teacher in primary school enjoyed taunting me in front of the class, saying that I looked like Melissa Saila from the TV series, PJ Holdings. I cried, dammit! And then there’s this one BM teacher when I was in Form 2, I dunno what grudge that he had against me and my sisters, but he really enjoyed torturing me + my sisters + some of my close friends. Ok, so what if we (me and my clicks) were a bit tomboyish and enjoyed being hecklers in class? That doesn’t give you an excuse to pinch our arms until it’s lebam? Gah! If I ever meet that guy again….
7. Do you have any advice that was given by a teacher, that you treasure till now?
“Those aren’t music, those are actually protests”, from my father (who is co-incidentally, a retired teacher), last week, fully aware of my taste of music. I forgot to tell him that I’ve been ‘protesting’ since 1994. :P
8. What was the best thing ever said to you by a teacher ?
I forgot.
9. What was the worst punishment you ever get from your teacher?
Ketuk ketampi in front of the class sebab lukis katun dalam buku latihan. Nasib baik masa tu ngan member. Cheh!
10. Worst thing that a teacher ever made you do?
Bought him a pack of cigarettes from the groceries shop in front of our school. Nasib baik ruling pasal bebudak under 18 tak dibenarkan beli rokok belum ada masa tu, kalau tak, mati la mak.
11. If you ever become a teacher, what kind of teacher would you make?
A nerdy and dorky one, yet adored by her students because she understands their interests and their need to rebel against the world. Bah! Thank God I’m a number cruncher!!!

Apart from that stupid guy that jumped the queue at the monorail station this morning, it’s those certain mo-fo’s disguised as MP’s, spewing racist/ sexist remarks like nobody’s business. Why? Sebab apa yang diorang katakan kat dalam Parlimen benar2 menggambarkan betapa rendahnya tahap education diorang, sampaikan aku nak gelarkan diorang ‘mentaliti kedai kopi’ pun tak layak. Seriously, man. These are the people YOU voted for, Malaysia. Man. These certain genres of Malay people really, really made me felt so ashamed to be a Malay myself. But then, who am I to judge them? Week 6 Update
The lil’ one.
13 May ni, genap 6 minggu. Insya Allah, pada masa ni, kepala mula membentuk, diikuti dengan dada dan abdomen. Jantung yang belum matang pun mula berdegup. Peredaran sel2 darah bermula, dan saluran2 darah mula membentuk dalam tali pusat yang bersambung dengan plasenta. Mata, mulut, tangan dan kaki juga mula membentuk. The not-so-little-one
Semakin manja dengan aku. Mintak dukung belakang le. Mintak tidur atas riba. Jadi agak clingy tapi kinda sweet sometimes. Macam semalam. Kepala aku terhantuk pada tangga rumah. Dia panggil aku, suruh aku tunduk, tanya kat mana sakit, dan dia cium kepala aku. “Dah tak sakit lagi dah, Mama”, katanya sambil tersenyum. :)
Oh, btw, aku baru je upload my very first ever video kat YouTube. It was taken by my brother at my house back in my hometown. Enjoy!

Arrgh! Jeans aku dah ketat!!!! Sigh… weight gain memang perkara biasa, tapi aku tak expect seawal ni. And the nausea macam dah ada, tapi I’m trying hard not to think too much about it. Yes, I’ve stopped listening to my favourite songs sejak middle of last week (walaupun aku takleh nak avoid kalau orang lain yang pasang), sebelum my mp3’s kena delete or whatever, and yeah, it’s also because I kinda made an agreement with the Man. Lagipun, masa camni, memang kena dengar benda yang elok2.
Frankly speaking, aku tak percaya sangat dengan kenan or whatever (semua kuasa Allah s.w.t), tapi aku akan try tengok benda yang elok2 dan avoid benda2 yang tak elok. Tapi sometimes ada something yang aku takleh nak avoid la, macam last Friday. Dah la tren penuh, pastuh aku dapat tempat berdiri betul2 depan poster POTC3. Kalau gambar Jack Sparrow atau Will Turner ok lagi, tapi Davy Jones and his full tentacle-y glory!!! Sigh…
Insya Allah, aku akan update lagi perkembangan mingguan tentang kami berdua/ bertiga kalau ada kesempatan :) Dan kalau larat la, hehe…

I'd finger paint more, and point the finger less.
I would do less correcting and more connecting.

First Appointment and Heroes 1x21
We went to the GP after maghrib yesterday. Our doctor said that we can only open up a file (the yellow card) after the 4 ½ to 5th month, yang mana aku ter O_O sekejap. What? What happens for the first few months? Rasa macam tak percaya jek, tapi doktor tu bagitau yang as long as takde complications atau apa2 masalah mcm high BP, diabetes or irregular bleeding, you should be fine. Aku bagitau la dia yang masa Ikmal dulu, aku daftar start dari bulan pertama. Doktor tu kata, tak perlu sebenarnya (seriously, I think that I might've been duped/ ripped off by that private hospital :P), tapi masa tu tak kisah la, sebab anak pertama. We tried to provide the very best for him.
Apart from my folic acid supply, which I had replenished to 3 months’ supply yesterday, I bought THE milk. You know, susu untuk ibu mengandung. Haha, not to mention that aku terpaksa cut down (or cut off!) my habit of 2 cuppa coffee everyday. Seksa! Aku rasa ngantuk sangat sebab belum biasa lagi ngan caffeine withdrawal.
Ok, back to business.

Tajuk yang betul2 sesuai. Why? Huh? Stop peeking at Nathan’s pants you pervert! :P IMHO la, pertama sekali, episod sebelum ni (Episod 20) pada aku ialah satu episod yang betul2 phoar! Sebab banyak babak mencemaskan, banyak persoalan yang timbul dan aku rasa la, mungkin salah satu episod dengan rating tertinggi. The HARD PART is macam mana nak membuat kesinambungan kepada episod tu, dengan berbalik kepada masa sekarang. Since Hiro dah ke masa depan, macam mana dia nak betulkan semula keadaan supaya New York terselamat drp letupan tu. How will the cheerleader save the world? Or is it the cheerleader yang betul2 akan selamatkan dunia?
Molly Walker, yang punya kuasa mengesan kedudukan seseorang hanya dengan berfikir tentang mereka. Kinda reminds me of Profesor X’s Cerebro dalam X-Men 2, but without the power la kot, I dunno.
Woah! Apa ni? Manchurian Candidate part 3 ??? Apparently, Grandma Petrelli pun turut sama terlibat dalam konspirasi Linderman ni. Ah. The things you’d do for your (handsome) boy. :
I loved this scene, yang mana buat kali pertama Sylar menunjukkan kebolehannya kepada mak dia. Seriously, I got this warm fuzzy feeling inside, that is, until dia buat muka jahat and starts hurting her. Poor Sylar’s mom.
This scene reminds me of the opening credits of Dexter. Err, Mr Tim Kring, can we like, have a Sylar shower scene too? No? What about an out-of-shower scene? No also meh? Double standard!!!! You have that for Jessica and Candice!! Tak adil! *sulked*
Arrrgh, so close, yet so far away. Malangnya, Present Hiro tak cukup guts untuk membunuh Sylar bila ada kesempatan. And since when Sylar ada ability to break this space/ time continuum? Dan berjayakah Hiro memenuhi firasat Isaac Mendez sedangkan pedang Bushidonya dah patah dua? Adakah Ando akan benar2 mati di tangan Sylar?

I loved this scene, yang mana buat kali pertama Sylar menunjukkan kebolehannya kepada mak dia. Seriously, I got this warm fuzzy feeling inside, that is, until dia buat muka jahat and starts hurting her. Poor Sylar’s mom.
This scene reminds me of the opening credits of Dexter. Err, Mr Tim Kring, can we like, have a Sylar shower scene too? No? What about an out-of-shower scene? No also meh? Double standard!!!! You have that for Jessica and Candice!! Tak adil! *sulked*
Arrrgh, so close, yet so far away. Malangnya, Present Hiro tak cukup guts untuk membunuh Sylar bila ada kesempatan. And since when Sylar ada ability to break this space/ time continuum? Dan berjayakah Hiro memenuhi firasat Isaac Mendez sedangkan pedang Bushidonya dah patah dua? Adakah Ando akan benar2 mati di tangan Sylar?

Just Some Mindless Fangirling... :P
Heh, mungkin aku terlambat, tapi this just came in my inbox:

I’d rather bun them up like some frigid b*tch than let them poke into my eyes, thank you very much. Anw, it looked pretty cool on this guy too…

Dunno about his ethnic background though; I’ve been searching high and low on the net, but to no avail – rasanya ada one poster at imdb board kata dia French/ American (Hawaiian), but sigh… Oh, this guy blogs too, at his short but sweet blog. :) and the one on AFI’s Official MySpace. Hehe, I can’t stop smiling here, because Mama said, Insya Allah, by the end of this year, I’m gonna be a big brother. She asked me whether I wanted a sister or a brother, and I said a brother. She smiled and let me lie on her lap, like she always did. Seriously, I’ve never seen her this happy, well, except when Aunty Sha told her that the new Linkin Park album has leaked on the internet :P

A Different Kind of Fire Inside
My Chemical mojo is at all time low, y’all
Hmm… macam mana nak tau kalau mojo aku (read: obsesi) aku tentang something tu is at a declining state? Well, firstly, the moment aku tengok gambar diorang atau dengar lagu diorang, aku tak rasa apa2. No feelings at all. I was looking at my Gerard’s folder last night, and I though, hey? Where’s the fire? Where’s the passion and the burning desire (go ahead and laugh fuckers :P) Sebelum ni, setiap kali aku terdengar atau terlihat something yang mengingatkan aku kepada diorang, aku akan rasa this warm fuzzy feeling inside. Tak kira la, Frankfurter ke, PLUS highWAY ke, Bob the Builder ke, I have this ability to relate every random things that I see to this band, but now, cam takde. Same goes with their websites. Kalau dulu, aku mesti nak check setiap site yang related, mcm LJ, for any updates on them, but now, kalau aku tak bukak pun tak terasa sangat. Why ah? Why?

Afi dan Mama (Ikmal)
Yeah! I have a new fave album, one which I’ve been listening over and over again for the last couple of days. It’s AFI’s Decemberunderground (2006), their 7th album to date, and the second after switching to a major label. I’m still downloading their 2003 album titled Sing the Sorrow though, dan aku rasa la, fanbase AFI jadi makin luas lepas album ke-6 ni, just like MCR after the release of The Black Parade. Macam MCR juga, aku semacam dapat mengagak reaksi hardcore fans diorang bila band ni beralih angin daripada hardcore dan hardcore punk ke irama yang lebih mainstream (masih rock tetapi lebih kepada synth-pop dan new wave dan even gasp! TECHNO! ~ which means, masih pleasant to my ears dan aku masih boleh relate kepada lagu2 tersebut). Antara lagu2 yang best dalam album ni ialah.. semua sekali! Haha! Except for Kill Caustic yang selalunya aku skip sebab too hard for my poor ears, imho. Personally, I love Prelude 12/21, Miss Murder, The Interview, Summer Shudder dan Love Like Winter.
Video klip Miss Murder ni diarahkan oleh (Super) Marc Webb dan Director’s Cut menampilkan lagu pertama dalam album DU iaitu Prelude 12/21. Aku macam dah boleh agak stail Marc Webb (settingnya, manipulating extras to make a raging crowd, positioning of the band members) and what can I say, I love, love love this song so much! The vocalist, Davey Havok, punya suara yang aku rasa, ada ala2 Robert Smith, sementara Jade Puget, the guitarist with cool hair, is affectionately known as the pink-wearing ninja (another gasp!), man, this is like the only guy I know that can wear pink and get away with it (and looked damn hot too!).

Love Like Winter ~ Holy cow! Now that's what I call eyelashes!!! Haha, call it emo, call Davey the clone of Marilyn Manson, heck, call it techno! This song is so good, it's dance-able, YEAH! (And Jade is yummy!)

Update on Films and Such

Dear Wendy (2005)
Bertitik tolak drpd kejadian pembunuhan beramai2 di Virginia Tech tempoh hari, tergerak pulak nak menonton filem karya Lars Von Trier arahan Thomas Vinterberg ni. Mengisahkan tentang sekumpulan remaja (read: losers) yang bersatu atas minat yang sama – pistol dan segala tok nenek tentang fire-arm, yang mereka namakan The Dandies. Satu perkumpulan yang bermula dengan satu minat dan obsesi yang harmless (iaitu berjanji tidak akan menggunakan senjata mereka selain daripada target practice di rumah kelab mereka di bawah tanah), tetapi terjadi satu insiden yang membuat mereka terpaksa melanggar janji tersebut (dengan konsekuens yang amat tragis). Dibarisi pelakon2 remaja yang aku lebih dikenali dalam filem2 indie seperti Jamie Bell, Alison Pill, Mark Webber dan mamat yang jadi Chuck Sherman dalam American Pie tu.

Soundtracknya best, dengan lagu2 60’an dendangan kumpulan The Zombies. Dan jelas sekali keganasan bukanlah penyelesai semua masalah. :-( Dan, ingat tu, senjata api dan kanak2/ remaja adalah satu resepi untuk kemusnahan dan kematian. Mereka sepatutnya belajar daripada kanak2 runts dalam City of God.

Wajarkah perkahwinan diiktiraf sebagai satu industri?
Mockumentari arahan Debbie Isitt yang aku tonton beberapa hari selepas Grand Finale program Cari Menantu di TV9. Ironik, huh? Confetti mengisahkan tentang satu program realiti anjuran sebuah majalah pengantin yang ingin mencari pasangan yang dapat menganjurkan majlis perkahwinan yang paling unik. Ada tiga pasangan yang berentap untuk merebut hadiah yang ditawarkan (sebuah rumah!) iaitu – Matt & Sam (pasangan yang impikan satu majlis perkahwinan ala2 muzikal), Isabelle & Josef (tennis freaks yang mahukan majlis bertema tennis) dan pasangan ‘naturist’, Michael & Joanna (aku kira, terma yang lebih PC untuk nudist), yang mahukan majlis, well, untuk golongan naturist ! Dibintangi oleh pelakon2 komedi British yang lebih terkenal melalui siri2 TV (dan malangnya aku cuma kenal Martin Freeman :P), dan skripnya dibuat secara improvisation.
Aku suka filem ni, sebab macam pasangan2 normal, ketiga2 pasangan tak lepas daripada masalah2 yang biasanya mengganggu rumahtangga (this is before the wedding!), macam interfering in-laws, jealousy, difference in beliefs and thinking, vanity, dan macam2 lagi. Juga terdapat konflik di mana mereka terpaksa memilih sama ada inginkan satu majlis perkahwinan yang diimpikan sejak kecil atau terpaksa mengikut apa yang disarankan oleh penganjur (all for the sake of winning the house).

Tapi bagi yang tak biasa ngan full frontal nudity (mostly men), pejam mata je lah (sebab ada babak di naturist camp). Tak banyak, I mean, this is not something from Tinto Brass; heck, even Eurotrip pun kira ok lagi la.
Jangan Pandang Belakang (2007)
Kau tau apa yang sucks kalau nonton filem seram di pawagam? No? It’s the fact that you can’t bring your bantal busuk to cover your face, macam yang selalu aku buat kalau nonton di CD/ DVD. Dan satu lagi, dengan skrin yang besar dan sound system yang menggegar, babak tu jadi 10x lebih takut. Cukup takut untuk membuat aku mengajak member temankan ke tandas ofis petang tu. Yes, pada pukul 6 petang :P
Kisahnya gini. Tunang Darma (Pierre Andre) iaitu Rose, bunuh diri secara mengejut. Then, dia dan adik kembar Rose iaitu Seri (Intan Ladyana) cuba mencari sebab mengapa minah ni boleh bunuh diri. Turns out yang ada satu makhluk ni dok ganggu dia. Logik? Entah le. I mean, dalam masa seminggu tu, takkanlah si Rose ni takleh langsung keluar dari rumah dia, dan mintak tolong dengan tunang atau adik kembarnya atau sesapa ajelah, jiran ke, kawan ke? Waktu siang hari? Takkanlah ‘abang’ tu dok haunt dia 24 hours?
Babak best – Babak dalam gambar kat atas tu, bila Darma dapat tau yang didukungnya tu, bukannya Opah, tetapi ‘benda’ tu! WTF!!! Dan satu lagi, aku suka masa malam lepas Darma solat Isyak, dan ‘benda’ tu mula mengacau. He put on the CD of Quranic recitals dan ‘benda’ tu mengamuk! (Hoho, masa taip ni pun aku dah rasa seram!)
Scene stealer ? Tak lain dan tak bukan Mak Mah, yang memegang watak sebagai Opah, nenek Darma. Dialognya, walaupun imho, nampak mcm dibuat2, tapi hell, man, bulu tengkuk aku semua naik every time dia muncul di skrin. Terutama referencenya kepada ‘benda’ tu, yang disangkakan kawan Darma. (“Darma, kenapa tak ajak kawan kau tu masuk. Kenapa dok tercegat jek kat luar tu?”) Heh, dan aku perasan dalam satu scene ni, mungkin sebagai homage kepada filem seram terseram, The Exorcist (babak Regan yang dirasuk menyamar menjadi ibu Father Karras yang telah meninggal dunia), yang mana bila Pak Imam bertanya kepada Opah, siapa dia, dia menjawab – “Abah kau!” (correct me if I’m wrong here, though, sebab aku nonton sekali jek)
Hell yeah Chemical!
Whaddayaknow? Masa babak Pierre tengah cari siaran radio masa dalam perjalanan balik ke kampong, guess who made a cameo appearance? Yeah, it’s MCR’s WTTBP!!! Heh, macam nak menjerit lak aku rasa, hehe…Tapi, serious la, masa jeep dia broke down tengah jalan yang sunyi tu, memang seram. Seram campur kelakar!

After watching this film, I told my hubby, “Yang, if we’re gonna get more kids, we’d better do so before 2009.” Dia tanya aku balik, apa pasal? Aku jawab la, Alfonso Cuaron yang bagitau :P
Pergh, memang best. First of all, sebab Clive Owen. Kedua, sebab settingnya, kat dunia ala2 post-apokalips, di mana semua manusia seluruh dunia sekarang tertumpu di Britain. Pasal apa? Aku pun tatau. I think I have to read that novel by PD James* (a) dulu, baru le aku tau the whole story.
Kisahnya, sekarang dah tahun 2027, dan dunia sedang meratapi kematian manusia termuda di dunia yang berusia 18 tahun. Ya, manusia tidak lagi boleh menghasilkan baka dan bakal mengalami kepupusan. Atas permintaan ex-gf-nya, Theo (Clive Owen), seorang ex-activist terpaksa melindungi seorang perempuan mengandung bernama Kee di mana beliau merupakan satu miracle di saat itu, kerana dalam masa 18 tahun, tiada bayi yang dilahirkan. Kee menjadi harapan manusia sejagat, dan juga rebutan antara puak2 rebel yang mahukannya.
Aku suka babak: Masa ex-gf Theo (lakonan Julianne Moore) mati ditembak dan Theo breaks down in tears. Juga masa pertama kali Theo dan Chewietel Ejiofor (yang melakonkan watak puak rebel) mendapat tahu yang Kee mengandung, man, that was so shocking!

Masa gi Pesta Buku Antarabangsa dua hari lepas, aku terjumpa buku ni, dan banyak lagi novel2 yang membuat aku rasa nak jerit “kenapa aku tak bawak duit lebih!!!!” Siot, aku rasa most of Neil Gaiman’s books were there, and not to mention Jeffery Eugenides’ Middlesex (dah lama gila aku cari buku ni kat Pay Less Books), and guys, kalau korang free, just drop by PWTC for the KL International Book Fair. Sampai 6th May, kalau tak salah aku. Aku cuma sempat cover 2 floor jek masa first time gi tu (semua sekali ada 3 whole floors of books, books and more books!), dan Insya Allah, esok aku nak gi sekali lagi. Ada contest y’all, whereby kalau kau spend RM50 ke atas, boleh dapat satu borang cabutan bertuah (ada slogan too, if you’re creative enough). Aku rasa hadiah pertama ialah motorsikal.
Aku balik dengan beg yang penuh ngan buku (gila, buku2 cerita untuk budak murah2 belaka!). I bought so much books, sampai myfake Eastpak backpack patah. Serious. Sebab buku2 hardcover pun murah gila. (Imagine, buku citer mitologi untuk kanak2, satu set ada dalam 12 buah, kalau tak salah aku, and they only cost me around RM12. Per set!) Penat bawak buku je, so next time, I’ll have to remind myself to bring a trolley or something.

Bertitik tolak drpd kejadian pembunuhan beramai2 di Virginia Tech tempoh hari, tergerak pulak nak menonton filem karya Lars Von Trier arahan Thomas Vinterberg ni. Mengisahkan tentang sekumpulan remaja (read: losers) yang bersatu atas minat yang sama – pistol dan segala tok nenek tentang fire-arm, yang mereka namakan The Dandies. Satu perkumpulan yang bermula dengan satu minat dan obsesi yang harmless (iaitu berjanji tidak akan menggunakan senjata mereka selain daripada target practice di rumah kelab mereka di bawah tanah), tetapi terjadi satu insiden yang membuat mereka terpaksa melanggar janji tersebut (dengan konsekuens yang amat tragis). Dibarisi pelakon2 remaja yang aku lebih dikenali dalam filem2 indie seperti Jamie Bell, Alison Pill, Mark Webber dan mamat yang jadi Chuck Sherman dalam American Pie tu.

Soundtracknya best, dengan lagu2 60’an dendangan kumpulan The Zombies. Dan jelas sekali keganasan bukanlah penyelesai semua masalah. :-( Dan, ingat tu, senjata api dan kanak2/ remaja adalah satu resepi untuk kemusnahan dan kematian. Mereka sepatutnya belajar daripada kanak2 runts dalam City of God.
Confetti (2006)
Wajarkah perkahwinan diiktiraf sebagai satu industri?
Mockumentari arahan Debbie Isitt yang aku tonton beberapa hari selepas Grand Finale program Cari Menantu di TV9. Ironik, huh? Confetti mengisahkan tentang satu program realiti anjuran sebuah majalah pengantin yang ingin mencari pasangan yang dapat menganjurkan majlis perkahwinan yang paling unik. Ada tiga pasangan yang berentap untuk merebut hadiah yang ditawarkan (sebuah rumah!) iaitu – Matt & Sam (pasangan yang impikan satu majlis perkahwinan ala2 muzikal), Isabelle & Josef (tennis freaks yang mahukan majlis bertema tennis) dan pasangan ‘naturist’, Michael & Joanna (aku kira, terma yang lebih PC untuk nudist), yang mahukan majlis, well, untuk golongan naturist ! Dibintangi oleh pelakon2 komedi British yang lebih terkenal melalui siri2 TV (dan malangnya aku cuma kenal Martin Freeman :P), dan skripnya dibuat secara improvisation.
Aku suka filem ni, sebab macam pasangan2 normal, ketiga2 pasangan tak lepas daripada masalah2 yang biasanya mengganggu rumahtangga (this is before the wedding!), macam interfering in-laws, jealousy, difference in beliefs and thinking, vanity, dan macam2 lagi. Juga terdapat konflik di mana mereka terpaksa memilih sama ada inginkan satu majlis perkahwinan yang diimpikan sejak kecil atau terpaksa mengikut apa yang disarankan oleh penganjur (all for the sake of winning the house).

Tapi bagi yang tak biasa ngan full frontal nudity (mostly men), pejam mata je lah (sebab ada babak di naturist camp). Tak banyak, I mean, this is not something from Tinto Brass; heck, even Eurotrip pun kira ok lagi la.
Jangan Pandang Belakang (2007)
Kau tau apa yang sucks kalau nonton filem seram di pawagam? No? It’s the fact that you can’t bring your bantal busuk to cover your face, macam yang selalu aku buat kalau nonton di CD/ DVD. Dan satu lagi, dengan skrin yang besar dan sound system yang menggegar, babak tu jadi 10x lebih takut. Cukup takut untuk membuat aku mengajak member temankan ke tandas ofis petang tu. Yes, pada pukul 6 petang :P
Kisahnya gini. Tunang Darma (Pierre Andre) iaitu Rose, bunuh diri secara mengejut. Then, dia dan adik kembar Rose iaitu Seri (Intan Ladyana) cuba mencari sebab mengapa minah ni boleh bunuh diri. Turns out yang ada satu makhluk ni dok ganggu dia. Logik? Entah le. I mean, dalam masa seminggu tu, takkanlah si Rose ni takleh langsung keluar dari rumah dia, dan mintak tolong dengan tunang atau adik kembarnya atau sesapa ajelah, jiran ke, kawan ke? Waktu siang hari? Takkanlah ‘abang’ tu dok haunt dia 24 hours?
Babak best – Babak dalam gambar kat atas tu, bila Darma dapat tau yang didukungnya tu, bukannya Opah, tetapi ‘benda’ tu! WTF!!! Dan satu lagi, aku suka masa malam lepas Darma solat Isyak, dan ‘benda’ tu mula mengacau. He put on the CD of Quranic recitals dan ‘benda’ tu mengamuk! (Hoho, masa taip ni pun aku dah rasa seram!)
Scene stealer ? Tak lain dan tak bukan Mak Mah, yang memegang watak sebagai Opah, nenek Darma. Dialognya, walaupun imho, nampak mcm dibuat2, tapi hell, man, bulu tengkuk aku semua naik every time dia muncul di skrin. Terutama referencenya kepada ‘benda’ tu, yang disangkakan kawan Darma. (“Darma, kenapa tak ajak kawan kau tu masuk. Kenapa dok tercegat jek kat luar tu?”) Heh, dan aku perasan dalam satu scene ni, mungkin sebagai homage kepada filem seram terseram, The Exorcist (babak Regan yang dirasuk menyamar menjadi ibu Father Karras yang telah meninggal dunia), yang mana bila Pak Imam bertanya kepada Opah, siapa dia, dia menjawab – “Abah kau!” (correct me if I’m wrong here, though, sebab aku nonton sekali jek)
Hell yeah Chemical!
Whaddayaknow? Masa babak Pierre tengah cari siaran radio masa dalam perjalanan balik ke kampong, guess who made a cameo appearance? Yeah, it’s MCR’s WTTBP!!! Heh, macam nak menjerit lak aku rasa, hehe…Tapi, serious la, masa jeep dia broke down tengah jalan yang sunyi tu, memang seram. Seram campur kelakar!

Children of Men (2006)
After watching this film, I told my hubby, “Yang, if we’re gonna get more kids, we’d better do so before 2009.” Dia tanya aku balik, apa pasal? Aku jawab la, Alfonso Cuaron yang bagitau :P
Pergh, memang best. First of all, sebab Clive Owen. Kedua, sebab settingnya, kat dunia ala2 post-apokalips, di mana semua manusia seluruh dunia sekarang tertumpu di Britain. Pasal apa? Aku pun tatau. I think I have to read that novel by PD James* (a) dulu, baru le aku tau the whole story.
Kisahnya, sekarang dah tahun 2027, dan dunia sedang meratapi kematian manusia termuda di dunia yang berusia 18 tahun. Ya, manusia tidak lagi boleh menghasilkan baka dan bakal mengalami kepupusan. Atas permintaan ex-gf-nya, Theo (Clive Owen), seorang ex-activist terpaksa melindungi seorang perempuan mengandung bernama Kee di mana beliau merupakan satu miracle di saat itu, kerana dalam masa 18 tahun, tiada bayi yang dilahirkan. Kee menjadi harapan manusia sejagat, dan juga rebutan antara puak2 rebel yang mahukannya.
Aku suka babak: Masa ex-gf Theo (lakonan Julianne Moore) mati ditembak dan Theo breaks down in tears. Juga masa pertama kali Theo dan Chewietel Ejiofor (yang melakonkan watak puak rebel) mendapat tahu yang Kee mengandung, man, that was so shocking!

Masa gi Pesta Buku Antarabangsa dua hari lepas, aku terjumpa buku ni, dan banyak lagi novel2 yang membuat aku rasa nak jerit “kenapa aku tak bawak duit lebih!!!!” Siot, aku rasa most of Neil Gaiman’s books were there, and not to mention Jeffery Eugenides’ Middlesex (dah lama gila aku cari buku ni kat Pay Less Books), and guys, kalau korang free, just drop by PWTC for the KL International Book Fair. Sampai 6th May, kalau tak salah aku. Aku cuma sempat cover 2 floor jek masa first time gi tu (semua sekali ada 3 whole floors of books, books and more books!), dan Insya Allah, esok aku nak gi sekali lagi. Ada contest y’all, whereby kalau kau spend RM50 ke atas, boleh dapat satu borang cabutan bertuah (ada slogan too, if you’re creative enough). Aku rasa hadiah pertama ialah motorsikal.

Sylar For President! And Other Wtf's from Heroes 1x20
Heroes 1x20
***FULL OF SPOILERS, THIS POST***
Seriously, aku terlupa langsung nak donlod Heroes, until Sha reminded me yesterday (thanks a lot beb! heh, by that time dia dah habis tengok dah pun, hehe). Bukan apa, aku tak biasa cuti lama sangat, so, aku ingatkan semalam hari Sabtu, hehe. Dah tu pulak, teh interwebz slow yang amat! Tension, tension. Petang ni baru habis donlod, sejak malam tadi. Leceh tul. Dan aku baru jek habih tengok, sambil melipat kain baju while the two men in my life are snoring…
WTF!!! Hell, I’m still shivering because this episode is like, DA BOMB!! (ahem, pun intended).
I had this nagging feeling that Sylar has managed to eat Candace’s brain, hence the shape shifting ability to imitate Nathan Petrelli. Remember the drawing? Haha! Sylar memang betul2 jadi President of the US of A, sebab damn, the real Nathan cuma ada ability untuk terbang, so logically, dia tak mungkin terselamat dalam explosion tu! And his idea of genocide, betul2 menguatkan lagi suspicion aku yang Nathan sebenarnya ialah Sylar in disguise. Another thing is, for Sylinder fans, hehe, tis a time to rejoice sebab the bff is still here, despite Sylar’s taking the shape of Nathan Petrelli now :P Dan aku heran kenapa Matt Parkman tak dapat baca mind President? Atau Sylar memang dah ada ability untuk block his mind-reading power? Hmmm….
So, that’s the scar huh? Cool. And of all the chicks, aku nak tau jugak macam mana Peter boleh end up ngan Jessica (eh, bukan Nikki ke?). Dan what actually happened to Micah, her husband and her alter ego? And where the hell is Linderman? What has he done with Micah? Adakah Sylar pun dan ambik power dia, together ngan power untuk shape-shifting tu? Gosh! So many questions here!
Alahai, kesiannya present Hiro kena belasah ngan Matt Parkman. Woah, woah, enche’ polis, kau dah jadi Homeland Security sekarang ye? Way to go, man, but hey, where’s the radioactive dude?
Heh? Bukan ke Grandma Petrelli dah hantar Claire ke Paris? 5 years into the future and the cheerleader has a new bf, new identity and a new hairstyle, AND still living is Odessa, Texas. Stereotypical though, coz, it is because she’s a former cheerleader, dia cuma layak jadi waitress? Sigh… ok la, maybe that’s an excuse because she had to conceal the fact that she’s still alive. And gosh!!! I’m really bummed out now. Takkan la takde sorang pun yang dapat agak yang Nathan is actually Nathan in disguise?!?!?! Not even his daughter??? (heh, she knew it, but then it’s too late, baby).
Ooh, bad, bad Sylar! Ok, so we all know that Claire boleh regenerate, but in this scene, agak2 dia mati tak? Will it be THAT easy for Sylar to kill Claire and eats her brain ? And Sylar, may I tempt you with some fava beans and a nice Chianti to go with Claire’s brain? Hehe… I love you, bad boy!
Bah! I hate cliffhangers!!!! And I just hoped that Hiro betul2 akan bunuh Sylar. At least, we all know that Mister Eesuck’s predictions is always true (gasp! Aku baru teringat yang Sylar dah makan otak Mister Eesuck, so, CAN HE predict the future too? (and change it in the process???) Argghhh!!!!
