The Bookworm Meme
(from Sunday Mail, with some ‘seasonings’ from moi)
What book are you currently reading ?
I have just finished Tideland by Mitch Cullin. La ni nak sambung balik baca The Shipping News by E Annie Proulx.
Who is your favorite author ?
Stephen King.
What is your favourite genre?
Horror, thriller, fiction, fantasy, self-help. And those that have been made into movies.
What book have you not been able to finish reading ?
Quite a lot, actually. Ranggau by Ramlie Awang Murshid, Hearts In Atlantis by Stephen King (unlike his other works, I find it pretty hard to engross in this psychological thriller), Shit by Shahnon Ahmad, An Equal Music by Vikram Seth, just to name a few. Usually, I would get back to it, like, whenever I feel like it.
I see you are a busy person. How do you find the time to read ?
In the train. While waiting for the train or my husband to pick me up at the LRT station. Or in the toilet. Even at the office.
What fictional character in literature would you like to be ?
Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter series (woo hoo, siapa tak nak belajar side by side ngan Harry dan Ron DAN Draco Malfoy??) Or Scout Finch in To Kill A Mockingbird.
Which book really affects you, emotionally ?
Ranjau Sepanjang Jalan by Shahnon Ahmad. Also, My Feudal Lord by Tehmina Durrani.
Which book do you want to see made into a movie ?
Siri Saga Artakusiad by Ahmad Patria Abdullah.
What character do you think the world can do without ?
None. Each one has their own special place in the world.
What self-help book would you recommend to others ?
Living in Malay culture, I would recommend motivational books by Dr HM Tuah Iskandar. Aku suka cara beliau menyampaikan satu2 panduan/ petua/ tips dgn cara yg sangat berhikmah dan berlapik, serta sesuai dgn budaya dan norma masyarakat kita.
Juga buku2 agama Darul Nu’man – World, world juga, akhirat jangan lupa.
Others, Ten Stupid Things Women Do To Mess Up Their Lives by Dr Laura Schlessinger and If I Don’t Do It Now… Career Makeovers for the Working Woman by Pamela Robinson and Nadine Schiff
(These two books were really helpful when I quit my job as an auditor, without even having a back-up plan. I was unemployed for a month or so, and soon, got a job at a multi-national shipping company as a temp. Tapi, okay la, what, drp menganggur.) Labels: Meme, Printed Materials
